My unwavering certainty in this world
They see me at my highest point
at my lowest
and all in between
When loneliness creeps down my spine, when I have a wound severed in my heart
I have a source of hearth
Something friends give; so pure, so raw
Where my sad tears dry on my cheeks, yet new ones form from laughter
Oftentimes, we forget the power of youth
For youth sets us birds free
Let us not forget to cherish these moments before we age
Until we will find ourselves
With stiff smiles, like a mask, plastered onto our face
With high pitched greetings, omitting our truth,
Backing away from exposing our deepest secrets and crude jokes that we once made
Where now we clear our throats and cross our legs and brag about our spouses and children,
Cackling laughs that were once genuine
Forever shall we hug our friends more
Tell them you love them
To destroy the belief that
Platonic intimacy must be reserved
Embrace love, embrace youth
Carry it until the day we die.
